Murder Suspect Says He Killed A Man Because He Was 'Living By Street Rules'

A man accused of murdering another man at the STA Plaza building admitted that he committed the crime.

Donald Phillips, 40, is accused of stabbing a man in the chest while he was looking at the bus schedule at the STA Plaza just before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Phillips claimed he did not want to kill the man but was just “living by the street rules.” He said the victim was out committing crimes and that is why he killed him.

Phillips said he knew where he stabbed the victim would be a fatal wound. He said he was not remorseful for his actions.

Police launched a massive manhunt after Phillips stabbed the man. During the manhunt, Phillips was spotted in the Peaceful Valley neighborhood where he admitted to setting a house on fire. Phillips would not elaborate on how he set the fire.
